The faster a bullet travels, the more energy it generates. Energy at the muzzle must transfer, or “dump,” into the target to be effective. Bullet expansion aids energy transfer. In addition, higher velocity produces faster expansion, allowing more energy to impact the target. This explosive expansion quickly releases the energy, creating tremendous shock and immediate stopping power. Also, do not be misled by claims of magical performance or reduced-power loads with increased effect; such results are unrealistic.
Bullet Anatomy
Jacketed Hollow Points use a gilding metal jacket and a soft lead core. Also, the jacket is specially scored inside and out to ensure uniform and rapid expansion. Traditional hollow points remain economical and can test handgun reliability. Experts recommend firing at least 200 rounds of your carry load to confirm consistent function. This bullet mushrooms in the traditional sense, typically doubling its diameter. The jacket and lead peel back to the bullet base.
