JHP Overview

COR®BON JHP is the original “HOT STUFF”! Back in 1982, our tests showed that most JHP (Jacketed Hollow Point) ammo would clog with clothing and fail to expand in soft tissue. The typical JHP often passed through like hardball ammo, causing minimal damage. Therefore, COR®BON designed the original JHP with higher velocity than competitors.

Energy and Expansion

The faster a bullet travels, the more energy it generates. Energy developed at the muzzle must transfer, or “dump,” into the target to be effective. Bullet expansion aids this energy transfer. In addition, higher velocity results in faster expansion, allowing the bullet to release energy quickly. This explosive expansion produces tremendous shock and immediate stopping power. Also, don’t be misled by claims of magical performance or reduced-power loads that supposedly increase effect—they are unrealistic.

Bullet Anatomy

Jacketed Hollow Points feature a gilding metal jacket and a soft lead core. The jacket is specially scored inside and out to ensure uniform and rapid expansion. Traditional hollow points remain economical and can be used to test handgun reliability. Experts recommend firing at least 200 rounds of your carry load to confirm consistent function.

This bullet mushrooms in the traditional sense, typically doubling its diameter. The jacket and lead peel back to the bullet base.
