What is DPX?

DPX stands for Deep Penetrating X-panding, and this round lives up to the name. The 155-grain all-copper bullet is engineered to expand aggressively while maintaining 100% of its original weight—even after passing through auto glass, steel, or other hard barriers. As a result, this “barrier blind” capability ensures terminal performance when the real world doesn’t play by the rules.

Bullet Construction

Unlike conventional jacketed rounds, the DPX bullet is machined from a solid copper slug, not layered or bonded. Internal serration cuts replace standard external scoring, allowing the bullet to expand cleanly and consistently into six razor-sharp petals. On impact, it creates a permanent crush cavity that exceeds what’s typical from standard JHP ammunition. There is no fragmentation, no break-off—just controlled, reliable expansion with devastating wound channels.

This round is also 100% lead-free, making it legal in restricted states like California and suitable for use on indoor ranges or sensitive environments.

Performance Testing

During FBI protocol testing, COR®BON’s 10mm Auto 155gr DPX achieved 12–18 inches of penetration in 10% ballistic gelatin, even through four layers of denim. Every test recovered fully expanded bullets that retained complete mass and form. Consequently, shooters can trust this round to deliver predictable performance in defensive scenarios.
