Penetration Testing Results
Our tests show that it feeds like hardball due to the lubricity of the polymer ball on the metal feed ramp. Shots fired into test medium using the FBI protocol, resulted in enhanced performance over a traditional JHP load. The projectile is lighter than normal for each caliber due to the space taken up by the polymer ball, which results in higher velocity. That higher velocity insures rapid and complete expansion in the 12 to 18” range in ballistic gelatin covered with 4 layers of 10oz denim per the FBI Protocol.
Anatomy
The Pow’RBall is a gilding metal jacket filled with a lead core that’s shaped into a Patented “V” shape, then capped with a round polymer ball which is crimped and held in place by the copper jacket. The ball enhances the feeding in auto pistols. Then, during the bullet flight, the polymer ball disperses air around the bullet making it more aerodynamic, improving accuracy.
Upon impact, the polymer ball delays expansion, allowing it to penetrate several inches before it is pushed out of the way exposing the lead “V” shape cavity, causing the bullet to fully expand properly. An added benefit of the polymer ball is that it protects the integrity of the hollow point by not allowing clothing or other material to plug up the hollow point cavity causing it to fail to expand.
