The Glaser Safety Slug® was originally created in 1974 for Sky Marshals who needed a dependable 9mm round with reduced risk of over-penetration and ricochets. Because they often worked in tight spaces—such as aircraft cabins—the priority became soft-tissue control and minimizing hard-surface hazards.
In 2002, we purchased the company because the Safety Slug® perfectly complemented the COR®BON product line. Since then, modern improvements have helped Glaser® deliver strong performance for civilian use as well. As a result, it has become an ideal option for apartment complexes, courthouses, hospitals, amusement parks, and other close-quarter security environments.
Bullet Anatomy
The 9mm Luger +P 80gr Glaser Safety Slug® uses a pre-fragmented projectile built with a traditional copper jacket. Instead of a solid lead core like a standard hollow point, it features a compressed core of lead shot that helps reduce the risk of over-penetration. A polymer ball at the tip supports smooth feeding and fast, reliable follow-up shots.
Additionally, the Glaser Safety Slug® is filled with #12 lead shot to provide controlled, predictable performance in self-defense situations.
